First of all, in 2017, Melbourne’s award winning interior designer Jane Gorman had her clients approach her from the CBD. Furthermore, their vision was to transform the newly purchased office space into a luxurious two bedroom apartment that centred around traditional interior design.
Above all, Jane and her team begun initially with 2D and 3D models of the space which provided a useful tool. Even more, when deciding ways to open up the interiors and cater for her clients needs. Hence, ay giving Jane’s clients a 2D and 3D visual representation, it allowed them to see an end result of their space. Therefore, adjustments could be made before the renovation process began to ensure maximum efficiency of Jane’s tradespeople.
As a result, Jane’s interior design vision for the space was to focus on traditional interior design. However, Jane also incorporated the latest in technology which included a Mirror TV with handmade Italian Bellini frame. Therefore, the constraints of the apartments floor space and Jane’s clients wanting a guest bedroom. Furthermore, Jane designed a kitchen island bench to be a feature of the apartment. Above all, the kitchen island bench with shaker doors had a washing machine, dryer and dishwasher recessed in. Therefore, this allowed for extra space within the apartment. Above all, Jane’s Melbourne based cabinet makers were able to create this unique feature from Jane’s hand drawn sketches which were transformed into 2D and 3D images. Consequently, throughout the Master Ensuite and guest bedrooms, Jane installed heated carrara porcelain tiles to add practicality on those cold winter mornings.
Furthermore, another feature of this apartment is the natural light exposure. As a result, Jane had the flexibility of designing customised window furnishings for the project. Therefore, these could be drawn across the windows to minimise the natural light that penetrated the space. As a result, the colour palette was soft in this project to keep inline with the traditional interior design concept of Jane’s clients.
First of all, all soft furnishings for this project have been designed by Jane and made in Melbourne. Thus, Jane often uses her long time and trusted upholstery and furniture suppliers. Jane’s designs were made especially for this Melbourne CBD project.
